  • Looker SF Office

Tentative Agenda:
6-630 PM: Arrival and get your vino on!
630- 645/7 pm - Spanish wine tasting
715 - 745: Fireside Chat with Kim Chambers, Dave and Kate, the team behind Kim Swims!

About the movie:
The film follows Kim as she chases her biggest dream yet: to become the first woman to complete a solo swim from the Farallon Islands to the Golden Gate Bridge – a 30-mile stretch of water know for frigid temperatures, swirling currents and the world’s largest Great White sharks. Many consider it to be the hardest marathon swim in the world, and rightfully so, as only 4 other men have completed the swim. Through the physically and emotionally challenging lead-up to the swim, the swim itself, and the candid interviews with her and others, we present a look into what propels Kim to conquer her fear, pursue her passion and achieve her greatest potential, and hopefully inspire others to do the same.

Piopio Pools Fundraising Dinner

  • Pio Pio Primary

I am honored for the opportunity to return to the first school I attended - in a very small farming community  - to be the keynote speaker at a fundraising dinner. The goal of this event is to save the community pool where I learned water safety. All children should have the right to learn water safety, particularly in a rural community where rivers and lakes connect the land. My hope is we can save this very important pool and swimming program.

Saint Francis Memorial Hospital

  • Saint Francis Memorial Hospital

On November 8th 2016, Kim will return to the hospital where she was treated for her life-threatening leg injury.

Diagnosed with Acute Compartment Syndrome after a freak fall in 2007 on her way to work, Kim was a mere 30 minutes from the amputation of her right leg from the knee down. Given a 1% chance of walking unassisted again, Kim not only learned to walk unassisted but she unwittingly began a journey of healing that brought her to the ocean, reinventing herself as a swimmer.

At the invitation of the esteemed surgeon who saved her leg, Kim (now a medical case study) will speak at the hospital's Grand Rounds event, bringing together doctors and staff for an hour long talk featuring fellow medical experts and past patients.
